En consecuencia, el contenido de humedad y de iones cloruros también afecta a los valores de ECORR.Resumen: English version: The main parameters that control the corrosion process in reinforced concrete structures are the resistivity (ρM) and the oxygen flow (iO2) through the cement matrix. Otherwise, the measurement of the corrosion potential (ECORR) and the corrosion current density (iCORR) allows the characterization of the corrosion susceptibility and the progress of the degradation of the reinforcement embedded in a particular type of concrete in certain environment. The objective of this work is to establish correlations between the above mentioned parameters, allowing the estimation of the corrosion progress of reinforcements, both at short and medium terms. The parameters were measured in mortar specimens using embedded carbon steel and stainless steel bars. Two different types of specimens were prepared: one with non-chloride addition and the other with additions of sodium chloride in order to promote active corrosion. These specimens were exposed for 9 months to different environmental conditions: 98% relative humidity, laboratory humidity and immersed in water. The electrochemical parameters related to the state of the system (ECORR, iCORR, iO2 and ρM) were measured and compared among them, searching for correlations. The results show the existence of very complex relationships between the measured parameters. It can be observed that: - It is not possible to establish correlations to predict iCORR values based on the cement matrix parameters measurements, such as iO2 o ρM. - In the spite of the standard ASTM C-876 recommendations, the condition of a reinforcing bar could not be established by the measurement of ECORR. - The cement matrix parameters (iO2 and ρM) are inversely proportional to the water content of the pore and the chloride content of the matrix. - The matrix parameters and the ECORR measurements are directly proportional. As a consequence, the moisture and chloride content also affect the ECORR values.
